Good player overall with a poor defence in from of him. Does well and has played well this season, not always his fault with stones, Barnes and fores Mori making mistakes all the time. All will get better and hopefully next season will see some players go and some come in.

Pipe down you yank beaut, joel doesn't try to throw the ball in his net for starters
Quit trying to make this some Howard vs. Joel/American vs. European thing. It has nothing to do with which one of them is a better goalkeeper. The point is that our issues as a team have almost nothing to do with who our goalkeeper is. For 18 months, all the chatter around here was that if only Howard were gone, the team would turn around and be a top four contender. That hasn't happened, but you're still in denial about it.

Its purely a yank thing. Blind loyalty from yourself when the entire world can see how wank hes been. Theres simply no defending him, you still try though with pathetic nit picking and attempted point scoring, funny near enough the entire fanbase see it different

put a decent defence in front of him and he wouldn't be conceding many at all.

Our next manager needs to organise this defence, more drills.

Joels doing fine, infact he's doing more than fine, he's making games that we could easily be losing by three our four (derby probably could have been 8) and his shot stopping in one in one situations have made sure we're always in with a chance.

Your in denial that Timmy has been dross for the last two seasons , and Bobby brown shoes gave him an extended contract!

I'm saying it doesn't matter whether or not he's been dross. We've been no better without him than with him. That's what matters.

It's what I've been saying all year -- you could put any one of about 30 Premier League keepers in goal for us and there would be next to no difference in the results. There are a handful of goalkeepers in the world who will legitimately make a team better: De Gea, Lloris, Neuer, Butland (this season), etc. After them, you have a few hundred goalkeepers who are all around the same level. We would be right around the same place this season whether we had Schmeichel, Begovic, Guzan, or Ruddy.

I'm not defending Howard. I'm not criticizing Joel. I'm saying that ultimately neither of them is either the problem or the solution for this club.

So we need a new

team and manager then so simple?

So we need a new

team and manager then so simple?
Of course it's not simple. If things really were simple, then all the people saying that all we needed to do would be to change goalkeepers would probably have been right. But this isn't a sport where changing one player makes obvious clear-cut differences in results, and anyone who thinks it would underestimates how complicated twenty-two people interacting on a football pitch really is.

I think there's a pretty good chance that a different manager making some subtle tweaks in how the team trains and plays could potentially make some dramatic improvements in our results, but I'm smart enough to know that I'm not smart enough to predict exactly what those tweaks would be.

Our new keeper a ray of sunlight yet you still find excuses to critique him?????
