Apologies if this has been covered before, but there's been more articles recently about automation of jobs and how it will affect the working population.

Every industry has it's own form of automation; from robots on the construction line in factories, to my daughter doing her maths homework online, thus eliminating the need for marking (and potentially removing teaching altogether).

Driverless cars, unmanned train stations, websites making travel agents null and void - it's happening everywhere.

So what happens when there's simply no jobs left? Are we heading for a post-work world?

Was spoke about a little while ago mate:

But it is interesting. I guess someone has to control the automation so there's a job there at least!
Yeah, but with AI improving all the time, the need for controls will gradually wane also.

I guess I wonder about my kids. In 10-15 years, they'll be graduating and looking for jobs. But what prospects do they face? I'm thinking about getting my 8 year old into coding now, give her a fighting chance!

If you believe the matrix theory then we could all be part of a machine as it stands so being concerned about our jobs being taken over by said machines would be ironic, if we are hooked up in the real world.

Tech is definitely the area to be in. Going to be weird on a social level as well, with decreasing levels of human interaction.

Seeing it drastically in Supermarkets. Very soon 1 in 3 people in supermarket work will be working for the online department, which is incredible really. That's on top of self service and scan as you shop.

Then again I saw something about Amazon opening stores you can walk around. Perhaps still avenues for certain things to stay traditional, who knows.

they need to hire more people to the wearehouses because the state of some of them kinda negates the online or home shopping aspect.

but crazy to think that 10 years ago, you wouldn't even consider supermarkets being competitive in every aspect and yet they can offer loans and credit cards, opticians, pharmacy, and certainly a good online presence. Even the vaping industry is primarily online, very little scope for actual old fashioned sales for 75% of the products people buy.

Warehouses will be manned by robots with a far higher level of accuracy and speed than a human can ever hope for.
