I understand what you are saying but that is like the Arsenal fans saying they are 4 points off 5th and the wolves and spurs saying 1 point. It means nothing unless we win all our games and they lose theirs. Norwich fans might as well say they are only 17 points off 5th.

I think its mostly a shot back at the moaners who early in the season throw out the likes of "We're only 2 points off of relegation, its going to happen!" and "We are already 7 points off the pace, season over". Just a few wins from an in form team flip the table at this stage, its absolutely meaningless to be projecting the season at week 15, theres a long way to go for quality to show itself.
