Need to extend his deal

I think he'll hang around for next season.

The problem will be when he finally forces his way in the England side. Everyone around him will be playing CL (bar Pickford) so coming up to mid 20s that will be the issue and case of extracting maximum fee possible and then re-investing that sensibly.

Brilliant today. Not been quite at his best this season, but we have conceded 12 goals in the 13 matches he has started, against 16 in 9 where he hasn't.

We are effectively the best in the league defensively when he starts, and bottom half when he doesn't. Even when he's not at his best, he makes such a big difference.

….i have it in mind that he wasn’t signing a new contract, hopefully his stance has changed with new owners coming in. Regardless, the reality is in-demand players leave when they want to these days but if we can get him on a longer deal it would put us in an even stronger position to claim big bucks for the lad.

I love how defending really matters to him. Terrific partnership with Tarkowski.

tbf the majority of them are young so wouldn't surprise me if they did have a chat and a laugh about stuff like that.

I'm not sure at times he's quite been at his absolute best, but recently he's been very close.

However across the season, in games he's started we have conceded 12 goals in the 14 games. It's about the best record in the league. In games he doesn't it's 16 in 9, which is like bottom 6 level.

So he makes a huge difference to us. Even with all our goalscoring difficulties we have 20 points in those 14 games as well. Again top half form.

I hope we can get him signed down to a long term deal.
