January Transfer Window 2026

Or maybe, he knows as a young defender you are better to go and play somewhere and show your stuff and come back once you have proven your worth. Coleman at Blackpool did, Baines at Wigan did, Osman did at Derby, Armstrong just had at Preston.

Why did Baines go on loan to Wigan ? I honestly don't remember that. Also as I stated Moyes tried to swap Coleman with Adams, how's that proving yourself ?

No I said what Moyes said in his press conference that he has the final say,
But maybe read what else I put, about TFG also saying that they won’t be paying big money for players over a
Certain age and will be targeting some young players for the future.

Arsenal have just bought and 18yr old from Scotland. Have they bought him for arteta, I’d guess no. But you don’t just stop buying young players for the future, just because the mananger has a preference for older, experienced players

ok mate

Because Moyes didn't trust Baines, in fact he didn't trust Coleman either, he sent Coleman on loan to Blackpool and hot rumour at the time he wanted Charlie Adam in a swap. He finally got Charlie Adam back years later...as our ill fated set piece coach. God knows why he trusted him, he was terrible at it...
Moyes made Baines his first choice left back straight away. After being out with 2 injuries and lescott being in fantastic form he lost his place for half a season before getting it back but he was very much trusted from the outset.

Don't agree there mate Baines was benched and second choice behind Lescott until that fatefull night we took a real hammering in Europe and Lescott was dropped for Bainsey, who never looked back. Lescott rightly became a centre half again.

No, Moyes paid big money to sign Baines from Wigan (and I’ve genuinely never heard that about Adam before).

Fair enough if you haven't heard it, but it was a very strong rumour at the time, thank God it never came true. We did pay big money at the time for Baines, but Lescott kind of established himself there with his good form and his SIZE, that's a clue why Moyes preferred Lescott at left back.

Well it’s just factual mate, Baines came straight into the side and played every game before he got injured. He came straight back into the side as soon as he was fit, and got injured again in his first game. By the time he was fit again lescott had made himself first choice and broken into the England team at left back.

OK mate.

You can go back and look at the teams if you want mate but I can assure you it’s true.

I did go back and have a look you right about the on off injuries, but according to what I read he didn't make the position his own until the beginning of the following season. Lescott was rightly dropped after that Uefa cup match were he was skinned during it by their winger. Can't think of that team we played will look it up later

Yep that’s what I said in the first place, he lost his place for the second half of the season because by the time he’d got back from his injuries lescott fully deserved to keep his place at left back, as it should be.
