Martinez bought rubbish but in the main it was at low cost and low wages. It was more than made up for with the sale of Lukaku as well.

Koeman has lumbered us with players on massive long contracts and sky high wages. Klaasen Bolasie Schneiderlin Siggurdson Keane. Allardyce completed the job with Tosun and Walcott.

We can’t shift any of these players now (Klaasen aside) and we’ll suffer massive losses on all of them. In retrospect we didn’t have much of a problem moving on Martinez’s flood with even the likes of Mori Cleverley McCarthy etc. finding clubs because they were low wage and low value.

we were trying to bridge the gap as a club and sign established players in their respective leagues, such as Gylfi, Bolasie, Klasssen and even to an extent Sandro who had put in a good showing the previous season in Spain and also had a decent U21 tournament.

It was a flawed model as we have found out, but to just pin it down to Koeman alone is a bit nuts IMO.

June onwards brings excitement. We have enough with Gomes due to return. What we need is to get the best out the squad now and get points to try and get into Europe. Every player should be on "trial" or audition to stay in the summer

It's a fair point. At the end of Martinez's spell, we had only 4 players being paid £60k a week or more, top earner Lukaku at 80k. Now we have 16 players on 60k a week or more and 10 getting 80k a week or more. Delph is being paid as much as Lukaku was.

Klaassen was absolute dog turd for us too. Ajax captain and scored for fun in midfield but was absolutely woeful.
