I don't think the club is willing to buy another starting left back while Baines is still on the pay role.
I think if a left sided CB becomes available we will go with that option instead.
Martina doesnt do a job at all, not at Left Back, Sam has said time and time again we need fullbacks, we will sign a fullback.

Weren’t we linked with the Bristol City left back the other day? Looks good, but I’m not sure his throw ins are of the same quality of Martina’s.
I cant imagine the people in charge will consider our season over in January when there is 2.5m per league placing on offer.
