We made more than 20m profit last year after transfers. This year we've had bumper crowds and excellent season ticket sales. We might have been skint but we aren't now, none or the premiership clubs are due to the new sky money. I wish fans would stop reciting that we're broke - it gives the board the excuse not to reinvest that money.

Like Matty says pal, why aren't we spending then if there's money there to be spent and we do need reinforcements?!

Yes, season ticket sales were up, new kit deal with umbro, our best ever deal with Chang, first instalment of the big tv deal money & money left over from sales from the previous season yet we only spend roughly £30m in the summer on transfer and we've done nothing of any note yet this month?!

But you add up the numbers pal. An extra £30m tv money, new £16m Chang deal over 3 years is just over £5m, new kit deal with umbro over 5 years but I'm not sure how much that is worth and then season ticket sales, plus money left over from player sales last season which was £26m in the end after we signed McCarthy for £13m, so you could say we had anything from £50-60m extra revenue compared to any other season right?!

But we roughly spent £30m on players in the summer, gave the manager and a number of players new and improved deals, gave good deals to Barry and Eto'o and also cut our debt by nearly half, so do you reckon we've got a fair bit of money left still?!

I'd love us to have £10-15m lying about this month but I'm just being realistic I think. We might have a little bit left over where we can make a keeper move or a loan or 2 but we won't have any decent amounts of money again until the summer I don't think. But that's just my opinion, that's how I think it all breaks down, it's not gospel.

I don't see how so many evertonians can see we badly need a few signings and Martinez who gets paid for this isn't willing to spend as you 'get no value in January' konoplyanka for 7 million and under is obvious value for money, we won't sign anyone I've resided to it now

Phil Kirkbride who's the Everton correspondent for the Echo says we have got money if he wants it so where's your logic. Got it on good authority that people Kenwright trusts in the club i.e Royle, Stuart, Sharp, Sheedy are all really sick of Martinez who's completely lost the dressing room.

Well listening to Stuart & Sharp either on commentary or radio, I wouldn't get the impression from them that they don't like Martinez.

If there's any possibility of getting this lad this month then we should be all over it! He can play anywhere across the attacking mid spots, he's quick, neat & tidy on the ball, can get a goal and create, the type of midfielder we need and want Martinez wants by the sounds of it?!
Hope you're right mate, he sounds perfect for us. Martinez going on about no value in Jan, well this sounds like a bargain. Hopefully we're all over it behind the scenes, who knows.

Think this thread needs a temporary close till lunch time tomorrow. Game today, absolutely nothing will happen today. Although I'm sceptical anything will happen at all. the fume after today's match could require the ssamaritans, never mind the stupid Jim white window!
