Everton are reportedly ready to make a late attempt to hijackCeltic’s move for former Manchester City midfielder Ahmad Benali.

The 22-year-old came up through the youth ranks at City but was sold in 2012 to Italian side Brescia.

However, the Daily Mirror report that Brescia have failed to pay their players for a fortnight and if they miss another payment then the club could be wound up, with players allowed to leave for free.

Celtic have been linked with a move for the Libya international but he would apparently prefer a return to the Premier League and Everton are monitoring the situation.
