Throwing his body with tuck arms to block the shots that hits within a second is not a clear and obvious penalty.

you have to consider it’s not humanely possible to bend his arm beyond his socket to hide it behind his back.

If you’ve had time to dive in front of the ball you’ve had plenty of time to react and thus time to not get hit on the arm.

no pen. You are allowed to ‘lean’ towards a ball, no rules exist for that! If he doesn’t attempt to block it and gets out the way, that would be unforgivable. He is moving his arms away from the ball as he leans in. The ref & VAR have $hit their kecks on this one.

His body is already moving towards the direction even before the ball was hit and it hit him within a second, again how is it deemed as enough time to react. You simply can’t undo a dive within such timeframe.

Clear as day, his instinct is to turn himself away to the left so that the ball doesn’t strike his arm. There’s no intention to play the ball illegally so never a pen IMO.
That referee is a dirty little inept gee bag who will be at the forefront of lots of dubious decisions this season once again.

The leaning narrative from VAR is hideous. Whenever anyone leans one way, by virtue of where your arms are on your body, they will always go first. He can't remove them, he doesn't make himself big, he just leans. To suggest leaning is now a possible requisite for a penalty is absurd. Nothing on Tarkowski, all on the referee.

I still think it’s a penalty but that aside he’s a great player to have in the team. No complaints about him as a player.
