2024/25 James Tarkowski

Think he’s been playing through niggles and injuries a lot this season. Looks sluggish and a yard slower than last season. He’s pretty much said that himself recently. Why Dyche insists on picking him instead of giving him a rest to properly recover, who knows. Particularly when you’ve got a £20mil signing sat in the bench. Oh yeah, doesn’t have prem experience…

I've mentioned it a few times now, but I specifically remember watching Burnley during that relegation battle (they often had games at different times than us, and their results affected us) and being shocked at how awful he - a guy constantly touted as being one of the best in the league - was at basics of just tracking runners and anticipating danger, resulting in most of the goals they let in down the stretch being moves he could've stopped or at least made significantly more difficult. His performance today was as bad as I can remember him ever being.

It's got to be time to try O'Brien now, he may or may not be good enough, but, we know for certain that, at this moment in time, Tarkowski, for whatever reason, is really struggling.
