Him and Branthwaite look a brilliant pair. On another note, I liked the look of van Hecke at Brighton.

Cannot disagree with that. I think he is more consistent than Distin....................he is just so steady and when he makes a mistake it is a shock

Solid, reliable, old fashioned, but with the slick and stealth required in todays game. A leader of thd team on the pitch and he is always there yo have a word with the referee, when required.

Great the way he welcomed Ferguson off the ball with body check early in the match on Saturday.
Ferguson was wary of him all game.

Never got the criticism of him at times last season tbh. Clearly our best centre half and as i stated back then playing for Everton at the back was a thankless task as those up the other end were not taking the pressure off. Defenders who cost a lot of money were making mistakes for other clubs but if the strikers are bailing you out then those errors were not highlighted as much. Everton defenders had no such luxury
