Matt Law saying we are ahead of the queue at the minute. He's a Villa fan who is close to Chelsea so may habe heard either side.

Colwill looks a talent. Not sure they will sell given their CB problems at the minute, plus Tomori is looking like a bad sale. Tarkowski on a free and Colwill on loan would be a good start.

Wages are the issue for me, Tarkowski should not be able to demand £90k+ a week from us. We really need to start running a tighter ship with regards to wages because that’s how we’ve ended up in such a hole. Any players we’re after, their agents are probably looking and going “hang on a minute, that Andre Gomes fella is on £100k so let’s start the bidding around that mark and go from there”
If Capology is an accurate site, £90k would put him on more than any defender at Tottenham, more than James and Christensen at Chelsea, more than Robertson, Kounate and Gomez at Liverpool; and more than Cancelo and Zinchenko at City.

If I'm a top side getting a free pass from FFP, I feel better knowing that the chasing pack are putting average players on top whack the moment they walk through the door.

He's 29, by all means not a bad player, but if we signing him, it's to play low block...

We are prime candidates for signing players like this because we have done it consistently. Over pay wages, we must be an agents dream.

Players that have valuations in excess of £10 million are able to DEMAND much higher wages than what they are worth, simply because the lack of a transfer fee saves the club a fortune. The new club is getting a 15 million pound asset for free, so if they want it, they're gona have to pay the increased wages.

Alternatively, we can always go and spend 15 million on someone else and then pay them 60k a week instead. Or worse, spend 25 million and then offer them 100k a week, which is what we have been doing with Schneiderlin and Gomes et al.

Works both ways tho.

Bernard was free and earned 140k a week for being on the main, a bit poo.

Yes, but compare that to the numerous players that we have spent 20 - 30 million on, paid high wages, and they still end up being poo.

If you want to sign a player that has a 15 million pound valuation on a free transfer, then you're going have to pay an increased wage.

Yeah im not against it, it seems a deal we should do, as long as we can recoup the money by offloading somebody.

Like with all things mate it depends who we want to off-load, both Holgate and Keane would have buyers depending on the price we set, Mina too although his huge wage likely reduces anything we'd get
