If by the end of the season, either of them has an average rate of a goal or assist in every 1.5 games they have played, come back to me and I'll hold my hands up and admit it was the right decision to let him go.

How about have the same numbers as him or better in goals and assists. But played a few games extra to help the team and where more reliable. Would that do you? Or ye just wanna bend the numbers cause he played f all games.
