Technical schmecknical.

He's a good player, but let's not claim we're blessed he's here. We've done ok without him this season, that's for sure.

We've beaten a crap S'ton team.
Drawn with Leeds but played well enough to win, defensive mistakes cost us (and poor finishing)
Scraped past a dreadful Huddersfield side in the one game we really did have to control the ball
Played very well against Brighton

I'm not getting carried away. I also don't think James solves all of our problems. I do think he's an extremely useful player to have.

It will probably have 200 pages when I wake up tomorrow and he hasn’t played a game or even been in a squad this season, yet Gray who’s up for the Premier League player of the month has 34… madness!

Totally get worshipping a Lukaku or even a Richarlison but a bloke who's played less than half a season here, not been totally committed / a team player and who the side has a better win percentage when said player isn't on the pitch is bewildering.

Stinks of the defence of Carlo last season because of who he was / the name rather than the actual substance in terms of the results and performances

Thing is though mate, I was with you (mostly) on CA. Didn't want him out but thought he could do much better.

You rightly say James was out for half a season. True enough. But when he did play, he delivered, as proven by every number going and, you know, watching the games. If any of Gray/Townsend/Iwobi or Diaz (if he had come in) went on to score 6 goals and assist 8 this season you'd be lauding Rafael as some genius and one of the world's elite managers.

As for CA, he did ultimately get us 59 points. It should have been enough to qualify for Europe but he/we cocked up. That's on him. One of those reasons was being far too reliant on quality player who unfortunately has injury issues.
