He'll be getting 10-15 minutes off the bench and a few cup games under Simeone - no way he plays every week.
Soon as Ancelotti left he wanted out and his fanboys have been taken for a ride thinking Benitez has chased him out the club
I don't think Benitez has chased him out of the club. I think Benitez would use him if he stayed. I think James is happy to go but probably also happy to stay and play out the last year of his deal if no offer came in.
We - the club - want his wages off the books. That'd be fine by me if he contributed nothing, but he doesn't, he's our most creative player by far and as I proved with the numbers last week was more creative than all of our current options, plus our priority attacking target, pretty much combined last season.
I don't hate Benitez for it. I think Benitez is working with what he has for the season and he's a manager who, I hope, would get James into the team should he stay. But the club are in this position and that's what bothers me. It's been run so badly financially, that instead of trimming the fat, as we should be, we're going and getting rid of a genuinely world class player who is on paper the difference between us and a few other squads around us.
The whole situation annoys me. And it's self-enflicted.
