James McCarthy

I think he's just been told he wouldn't be a starter mate and he threw his toys out of the pram a bit.

That being said he has also been injured a lot.

But he's too safe.

I was one of his biggest defenders on here as I always thought if he just added 'more' to his game he'd be the perfect all-rounder.

Ultimately he has shown in the games he's played this season he can't do that, and I'd rather move him on if he doesn't want to be here.
I'm a fan and my posts will show that I defend him. However, if he doesn't want to play for us then sell him at the first opportunity.

Can't wait to see the back of him to be honest, become an absolute nothing player and it's time to part. Let him go to Celtic because it's his club and SPL is his level anyway, miles below Premier League standard.

Don't hate on the lad though, it hasn't worked out like many thought it would but he hasn't given interviews back-handedly slagging the club off whilst looking looking for sympathy like some have done recently. He's kept his head down and behaved professionally whilst waiting to leave, can't ask for more than from a player on the way out.

Injuries (or rather being rushed back from injury) seem to have done him in at this level, he should be looking at going to somewhere like Celtic or Sunderland, where he'd be guaranteed time when fit.

i think we have a lot more players who need shipping out before mccarthy tbh. He can definitely be a decent squad player here and i can't see us getting good offers for him personally. Maybe a team like swansea would take him and they've been overpaying for utter gash recently, but i just don't think he fits in with koeman. We can't have him, besic and gibson all as centre/defensive mid backs with none of them being able to stay fit for 2 mins though, it's a waste. Ideally, we would ship off all 3 and cleverley and replace with two good fit backups, but that would have to be done in phases, and for me mccarthy should stay for the time being.

He's a modern day Steve McMahon, Traitor who makes me sick to the core.

Disgusting human being.

He's not good enough to lace Steve McMahon's boots.

A more fitting analogy is Mike Milligan.

Was boss in a little team (Oldham), had a decent rep, looked a good bet, initially a decent signing, then turned out to be duff. Left after being surplus to requirements.

McCarthy spent 7 years of his career being managed by Martinez. He knew no different. A proper manager like Koeman was always gonna be a shock to him.

Surprise surprise, Kopite defends McMahon.

Celtic have supposedly brought in 30+ Million as a direct result of their Champions League exploits and are interested in McCarthy

I doubt we'll make our 13 Million back, but we could get some considerable change for him

If you look at Celtic fans on Twitter, they really want him. I mean, they're desperate to sign him

If he's not in Koeman's plans, we might be able to cash in on him

I could see us getting between 7-10 Million for him if we play hard ball

Ideally, I'd like him to stay, but if a good bids on the table and we're getting replacements in, it might be worth considering

The market is inflated. Going to get more than £13m for him.

I don't rate McCarthy at all. And of the 3 you mentioned he would demand the biggest fee. I'm pretty sure we could get our money back. And 13mil could be handy for other parts of the team

By keeping him as say 4th choice? Your just blocking the path for the youngsters Davies & Walsh.

I reckon if they offer what we paid, he'll be gone.

I just don't think he wants to be here and Celtic would be perfect for him.

Other options could include Newcastle, Palace, WBA even...

I like Jimmy Mac, but he just doesn't seem able (or willing) to kick on and become the player we thought he could be.

If he does go I wish him the best.
