To be honest I don't care how much we pay for a player if he is good and we can get the money back if he does not fit in the team

His argument seems to be that fellaini isn't purely a defensive player but mccarthy is.

And we're a team who've just had two 0-0 draws and are swapping an attacking player with a defensive one.

Aaah ok...i'm with you. I agree there...however I am hoping that if we sell that we wuld bring in McCarthy for midfield and another player (no idea who) to strengthen our attacking options. Whether that will happen is another question though.

I thought in the way he replied that he did not like what he saw from McCarthy in that video...my bad. He is not a similar player to Fellaini thats for sure...but a very good player in the role he plays and where we lack in a way as we dont choose proper options for distribution in my opinion from midfield that in a way tends to stiffle our attacking play. Just my opinion though :)

Can Del and Orly just shag already and leave this thread free of their flirting?

McCarthy's a decent player, Fellaini is better.

We'd need to make ten to fifteen million on the deal to bring in a goalscorer as well ideally. We do that, we've done well.

I am incredibly angry at our stupidity with this. Why is our opening bid 10 million? That is less than United offered for Baines, who is the best in the world in this position.

We should not be paying anything near 10 million for this lad. It is Joe Allen/Jordan Henderson all over. We haven't got this money to waste. Paying more than 12 for this lad would be absolute robbery, as it will be basically what we end up getting for Baines, or over half what we get for Fellaini. There is no way Kenwright should sanction a deal worth any more than 8 rising to 10 for this lad I am afraid.

We have a gaping hole for a striker, because we have wasted 6 million on Kone. That is where the Fellaini money needs to be spent, not on players in the championship.

Thanks for clearing that up...I was just a bit confused as I liked what I saw...related to HIS job he had to do...not comparing it to Fellaini of course as Fellaini is a different type fo player in total...

EDIT: To Orly's response on my question

So its obvious he's replacing Felli as he's the one who's off

I don't see how you think he's not a good replacement when his stats speak for themself, He's a young lad and IMO will only get better

Comparing Felli to anyone is just stupid as he's a freak, I don't think there's another player like him in Europe, That does not mean McCarthy will no be a good signing

Also I don't get mad on the internet mate unless I am talking to a Kopite

Agree with most of that - I just don't think 10m or more is money well spent - especially in the financial position we find ourselves in. Arguably, what are the key stats - we aren't conceding much but we aren't scoring. So, if we have 10-12m, Barry comes in on loan and Gibson to come back, let's get someone to create some chances or convert them!

If the Mirror story about 36m for Fellaini is true - and I very very much doubt that (source http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/footb...hester-united-transfers-fellaini-move-2242144 ) now that is a farcical fee for him, he's worth nowhere near that much

From a Wigan fans view(me) only one of those names was responsible for our relegation, and it wasn't the last four you mention.

Relax people, if Martinez thinks the lad is worth x amount then i trust in his judgement, not much we can really do about it.

The price is just perspective anyway if we were all Wigan fans (shudder) then we would think he's worth at least 15m, but were Everton fans who think Felli is worth at least 25m but try telling that to a man u fan, see all perspective.

Now go grab the cadbury's caramel's and sit back relax and enjoy the next 24 hrs.:)

I agree to a point but Gibson is forever injured, We need Barry,McCarthy and Gibson IMO

Hopefully there's enough money to buy a creative CM and a forward because we are in desperate need of goals
