Jagielka: 1 year Extension

Is he 35 in a couple of weeks?....Cannot wrap my head around this one given he has been done for the last 2 years. Both Him and Williams cannot keep the back door shut over 90 mins and we don,t look like a team set up to blow teams away.

Seems an expensive contract for a squad player whom is best served to come on for the last 20 mins.

I reckon there was a 2 year deal on the table for him elsewhere, and an additional years contract would have been tempting for him.

The club wanted to keep him for this season at least, so have matched it to keep him.

Yep, I can see that but still an odd one for me unless he moves him on in the next 1-2 transfer windows.

Don't see any problem with this at all. he has been loyal. gets everton. works hard. players seem to like and respect him. still a solid defender who would jump in front off a train for his team.

I'm glad he's confirmed to stay with us. Haters gonna hate. He won't start every game, but there's still top class football in him and he has a very important role to play this season.

...I think it's the role he has to play next season which is occupying the thoughts of those posting in this thread

..fine pro, fine club representative. The Manager clearly feels he's useful to have around and a player he can call on if needed. My only concern is that he tends to need a run of games to get up to speed so playing him now and then might be a risk.
Last season proved exactly the opposite. He's still useful as a starter in the odd few games here and there, but cannot play a run of consecutive games any more. Given his age, its hardly surprising that he needs a bit longer to recover after a game.

I suspect that if Mori had not suffered that injury, Jags would not have got this extension...

Well, I'm sure this RK will be reassessing his squad bith in January & next summer. I think this extension is just to ensure that he can get his head down, concentrate on this campaign and not have to worry about his next move. Makes sense too, with Funes Mori out.

yes, fair enough mate. I'm not het up by the extension. Bigger fish to fry...

Soooo, 24 hrs after The end of Everton Day, and the cataclysmic decision to award Captain Phil another year, has the club imploded and ceased to exist yet?

Are you all OK?

How long do we have left before the impending doom?

Asking for a frànd
