capital one cup, sounds like a golf tournament. Yeah its one of two trophies but i've been ripping liverpool fans for thinking they had done something good by winning it. Good job we are out of it, its a joke of a trophy that should have been discarded years ago.

I actually think it was different tonight - I think this was putting him in his place for the recent transfer talk. Resting everyone else and playing him in the horrible rain at Leeds on a Tuesday night was the manager's way of saying "I'm the boss". And fellaini's performance and effort levels tonight (especially in the first half) back this up for me.

Discarded ages ago? Many think the same about the Europa League. If that was to be discarded because "its a joke" then only United, City, Chelsea, Arsenal, and maybe Liverpool (with FFP) will ever play in Europe again.
Being realistic, the League Cup is one of the only two competitions English teams like Everton will ever win again unless the whole football finances thing changes. City can afford to not take it seriously, they have bigger fish to fry. we don't.
Uh, the only people who have an excuse 'not to care' about the league cup are those teams who are in the Champions League, otherwise it's one of only 2 chances your team will get to win a trophy every year.
Why people continuously f*** off the league cup is beyond me. Then again, i suppose getting the 7th place trophy each year is more important. Or hell, maybe we could qualify for the Europa, the tournament where you play teams from the arse end of nowhere for the slim chance of lifting a trophy and getting some meagre prize money.
If somebody had given me the choice of finishing 8th and winning the League Cup last season or finishing 7th then i would have chosen the first option all day long, it amazes me that anybody else wouldn't.
