Exactly.

Were even showing video clips of Lescott scoring for us prior to matches starting. How is that getting the crowd up for the game?

I would rather listen to interviews from players talking about the future.

Every so often as well someone will come on and post about how we were the first club to have some thing unique 80 years ago.

We just sound like some granddad reminiscing. We need to be innovative now, and not thing about how innovative we were back when it was all sepia.

Dump Z-Cars, and play Motorhead instead, or better still, perhaps a little Beethoven.

Seriously though, if a pop band have one hit, and then put out single after single of utter crap, fans would be in uproar and never watch them again.

Footy fans are are very forgiving bunch.

"Hello Suicide Hotline"
"Its me.... We've got Hibbert and Osman on the right flank again..."

Lol, that'd be an improvement right now imo!

I'd hate it if everyone agreed with me. I will happily accept 1000 replies telling me i'm a pessimist if it meant they had positive comments to counteract the negative. Blue was spot on. Talk about food. 1 bacon butty later and i'm feeling better already.....!!!(y)

Bacon butties are the answer. Best with a fried egg, no sauce or butter, just let the bread soak up the juices. :)

<homer>Hmmmmmmmmmmm bacon</homer>

You know what I meant. You have to admit that sometimes people refuse to accept bad [Poor language removed], and always look for positives. The whole transfer window situation when certain people always believe that we will be ok, but clearly that has come back to bite us in the arse.

I don't think there is that much of a balance on here. Heated discussions are usually stifled, even though it's something that many of us quite enjoy.

Very true. A certain Mr Marsh springs to mind.

Even so, I reckon there are people who try and defuse a debate to keep things running smoothly.

Sometimes though a good slanging match is good to clear the air, my folks always said that.

Plus it's entertaining for those not involved. :)

Debates are cool.
What I don't like to see though is people ganging up on one poster who has a different opinion than the majority.

Debating is what forums are about, just some time round here it can turn a bit 'rough' - bullying or ****ging matches, getting personal, thats generally when it gets stamped out.

He has done a great job since being here, but he has been employed to do what he has done.

What he has done 'isn't' over and beyond what he was employed to do.

What we must be realistic with though, is ensuring that he hasn't peaked, and about to take the club backwards.

If that is the case, then it's time to inject new ideas from a new manager.

If he has a lot more to offer, then he'll have the support of the fans, but one thing I will never tolerate is people sitting back on past reputation.

It's about today, and tomorrow - NOT yesterday.

In either case, it's time for the board to find some funds.

Well saying its what he was employed for is fair enough, if what he was employed for was 'do a great job, turn the club around, from relegation fight regulars to euro regulars with a squad of internationals on a tight budget'. Doesn't mean he hasn't done a great job so far!

But it is the future that counts now, and his performance in the past only matters in as much as it affects his performance in the future. If he has peaked/in the future peaks or just turns plain [Poor language removed], then he needs to go.

I think a possible solution is to get an 'Offensive' coach in. As someone pointed out in another thread, Moyes, Round and Lusden, were all defenders. Doesn't necasarily mean they don't know what good attacking football is, but maybe they don't have the understanding required to coach it into the players. I think getting in a more attack minded coach, possibly an ex-(attacking)-player would help, balance out the coaching staff.

I doubt that.

15 years since last trophy? We are fast becoming Newcastle, and we don't even realise it.

So when we show new players around the Club, do you think we dont take them to the trophy room, do you think we dont take them past the pictures of past captains picking up trophys, do you think we dont tell them about how great we where and how great we can become?

We only have our history left.

I would hope that they take them to Finch Farm and show them the facilities. Maybe give them a blueprint as to what the club want to achieve over the next 5 years. Not what they achieved moons ago.

These days the only thing footballers are shown at clubs is a strongroom with a continuous stream of oil running through it.

History is great.

It allows 13 year old Kopites to brag about 5 cups and 18 titles. :)

It allows guys who won the world cup in 66 to get rich on the back of it while the rest of us get it forced down our throats every 4 years.

All bollox.

You were there to witness it, or you weren't.
You can read all about it, and look at pictures of it all, but it doesn't exist anymore.

The day before you die, look back on your own life, and not the life of others.

Profound and spot on. If you can't leave a legacy for your family then what are you?

Back to football though, we need to move forward. Is Moyes there? Do we care if he is or not?

I'm swaying like a flag pole. I love Moyes, but I hate him also. He has made some great buys, and some questionable ones. But makes some odd decisions.

Osman as captain for one. Hibbert as a right back when it's clear he isn't capable.

Jo, I mean for **** sake, what the hell is Moyes seeing in this lad?
