….being a decent finisher is only part of what is required for a striker.

I don’t see Keane running the channels, going past opposition players, being combatitive, looking after the ball with his back to goal, linking play etc but perhaps our current options aren’t great at those skill sets either.

….really, he’d go past players with his blistering pace. Anything played in behind the defence or into the channels he’d worry the opposition to death. Decent interplay, could look after the ball played into him. Somehow don’t see Keane sprinting beyond opponents and showing them a clean pair of heels, unless we’re talking about a different bloke.

This is the modern game with five substitutes allowed from a choice of nine on the bench.

In a professional well run club this should never be taken seriously as an option.
