Must admit that whenever I'm in Romania I hear a few, ahem, unreconstructed things.

I never get the vibe there's genuine outright malice, just that low grade stuff most likely born of a bit of ignorance and not really encountering folk of different skin tone. Thats not to say it is not quite insidious wearing when folk have to deal with it daily, which still happens here.

It's wild here at times to be honest - Romania's chilled out a bit but we've got the pro-Russian parties (and elections soon) so things are popping off here daily it feels like.

Ignorance is rampant and it's also hilarious to see the same people backtrack whenever they meet someone from the minority they hate (be it skin colour or culture or what have you) and are blatantly not as racist as they've told you A friend put it quite interestingly - "I thought I hated black people and muslims, but after living with them, it turned out I hate lazy people and it has nothing to do with who they are/where they come from". Not saying it's okay obviously, but it's something that genuinely happens.

We have many more problems than that anyway.

Anyway yeah, the England topic - I really miss seeing a bunch of drunk middle-aged men, as red as crabs, wearing nappies and falling over from being drunk at 10am around Sunny Beach all summer.

I know @john jako visited though so at least we had that for a bit this summer.
