Initial 10, then reduced to 6 + 2 Point Deductions

Just thought - we're coming up to the anniversary when we had 10 points reduced to 6 - and even still with that, with the threat of more points to come.

Everton's penalty for breaching Premier League financial rules has been reduced from 10 points to six after an appeal.

The club were immediately docked 10 points in November for breaking profit and sustainability rules (PSR) in the three-year period to 2021-22.

The punishment - the biggest in Premier League history - dropped Everton from 14th to 19th in the table.

The reduction lifts them from 17th to 15th, although the club is facing another possible points deduction.

Everton, who admitted the breach, said they are "satisfied" with the reduction though they now face an anxious wait after being charged in January along with Nottingham Forest for alleged breaches in their accounts for 2022-23.

That case must be heard by 8 April, however, any appeal could take that process to 24 May, the week after the season has concluded.

It's been comfortable this season - enjoyed it for the blood pressure.

Take 10 points off us now, and we'd be sat where Nottingham Forest are - and expecting more deductions to come.

Never forgive/forget what the Premier League did.

City will definitely get punished. The question is to what extent. The PL have always had a credibility issue when it comes to PSR, but now it’s even more acute, simply put, no one will believe them if City get away with it after all of this time. It will just look to everyone like they bottled it.

I personally think they’ll get punished enough ensuring they don’t win the PL in the season they are sanctioned, but not quite enough to leave them out of consideration for a CL spot. The last two seasons has seen a 19 point swing at seasons end between 1st and 4th.

And now PSR will be phased out. We didn't go down - so it's like nothing ever happened.

Absolute vermin, the lot of them.

Always going to be the case. The guinea pig Canary in the coal mine to be made an example of.

The big question would've been if we didn't survive and actually went bust on the back of what the PL did. Thankfully never happened but would've been as big a court battle as the City case IMO

Here's my wild swing...

Max 15 point deduction.
2 window transfer ban
Biggest fine ever commited to a football club.

City will take that with open arms. The PL get a bag. City finish midtable/top 7 anyway. Back to normal the following season.

How would we fund the case if we had gone bust?

We wasn't innocent, we overspent by a mile.

Sure chelsea not so long ago was rumours they was going to get a finacial punishment as to not punish the fans, instead of a points deduction for what they have done in the past. I think city will get done but have no faith will ever see another club punished like us, the league cant even punish leicester
