If we finished 4th last season, would our performances this year have been any better?

On another thread it's just said that Man U could finish 4th on 72 points. We finished on the same points last season but were still 7 points behind Arsenal.

Looking at how dreadful our domestic season has been this year, would competing in the CL made our domestic season any different, or would we still have struggled?

Can't see how it would have made any difference to our season.

We might have brought in another quality forward instead of the poisons Eto'o but performance wise it would probably been harder given teams would be more wary of us.

Probably not.

The injuries would have still been there which for me has been the biggest problem to the season.

That, and we'd have had a bigger target on our back.

We would have had an extra £25-30m to find transfers, plus the draw of CL. We'd have done better.

If we'd got past the qualifying round we'd have had a bigger budget, so would have had more to spend in August, but failure to get to the group stages would have meant we'd have been pretty much where we were anyway.

We probably would have still been let down by our injuries, poor fitness levels, game approach/tactics, and shoddy pre-season prep, etc.
