If mercenaries want to leave let them. Our priority should be MOYES.

So Pienaar running his contract down and leaving makes him a mercenary as Fellaini would be if he left but moyes running his contract down means we should up his deal and fight to keep him and he wouldn't be a mercenary if he left . Is that right ?

I think you've summed up the arguement pretty well there mate.

There is a difference mate. Pienaar cost the club millions by running his contract down. Moyes wouldn't and fellaini signed a new deal and if leaves will ensure we get big money.

If your an important player and worth decent money.. Running ur contract down for a easy transfer out and costing ur current club millions makes u a bit of a selfish [Poor language removed]!

So hang on, people complain that players leave before the contract is finished, and people complain that they leave after they finish the contract? How can they possibly win here?

Here's a hint...they're not, even, arsed. It's a job.

Don't you get compensation for managers ? Because I think you do mate so in that respect him not signing would 'cost us money'. Pienaar would have signed if he'd been offered the wages he thought he was worth and that was less than the club then offered Arteta and less than moyes was on at the time.

I have no problem with football managers or players 'bettering' themselves but there is put simply a 'way to conduct yourself' and for me demonising a player for having ambition makes us sound like kopites who pilloried Torres for leaving whist they, us and every other club cherry pick talent from other clubs. Certain players behave 'badly' over moves and for me they can be deserving of a metaphorical 'kicking' over it but a lot are simply ambitious.

The only issues I have with moyes over his contract is it wasn't long ago he was holding himself up and criticising football wages suggesting everyone take a cut although you imagine he won't be doing so and also that we need to know what's happening . Is he planning to stay, looking to leave, looking to sign long-term players in January or is he thinking that far ? If moyes was a player we'd be talking about his contract & it seems we aren't

I believe some people have missed my point.

If a player like Fellaini wants to leave we shouldn't fight it. Let players like him go for top dollar there's no point keeping an unhappy face around.

Moyes' is an exception and we should be busting everything to get him to stay, as for the reasons outlined in my OP.

You can say I'm being a "romanticised tit" or whatever it was, but honestly to call professional football "just a job" is ridiculous.

It's a simple equation really.

Player leaves Everton equals mercenary.

Player does not sign for Everton equals lack of ambition.

I've come up with this logic while wearing my blue tinted glasses. It's all about the money, be it footballer or the average Joe on the street.

Take out the quotations because I didn't actually call anyone that. Thanks.

And it is a job. Whether that's right or wrong and whose to blame, well that's another arguement, but for many players these days it really is a high paying job.

I agree, a job with a limited time frame. And, if they maximise the earning potential they could set themselves and family up for life.

Let's be honest, we would all do the same.

It isn't to you or me mate but the odds are it is for most of the XI on the pitch , I think other factors are at play obviously as there is a bit more to it but at the end of the day whether you are paying a £50k mortgage or £3.5m one the bills need paying. Everyone on whatever wages pretty much lives a lifestyle & pays bills comparable with it so it's always a 'job'.

The other factors be they childhood loyalty , personal loyalty , ambition to win trophies or perform at the top level and therefore improve your 'skills' are the things that complicate it all.

Everton are finished without Moyes.

We should rename the club Moyes Utd - then we can refer to ourselves as "utd" - perhaps that'll stop him being poached by that "big" team up the East Lancs rd.

Fcking despair at the lack of guts among present day fans

We've replaced managers that have won trophies & titles both domestic and European and over the years we've replaced some of the finest players of their generations and yet we are still here. Moyes has done a good job but do I believe he's the first 'irreplaceable' individual in the clubs history no I don't .

Irreplaceable individuals don't exist. Some are just harder to replace than others.

I don't think Moyes even comes into that bracket. Given the facts:

Buckles under pressure in most big occasions.
Reverts to type - Nev in Midfield, Cahill attacking mid even though it hadn't worked for 2 seasons. (West Brom most recent example) regardless of form. This one is also applicable for formations.
Poor at making substitutions (Coming off Louis Saha to be replaced by Sylvain Distin...) Don't believe any other prem manager would've done that.

Sure, he has great qualities too, but I'd rather see someone else given a go, and can never wrap my head around the attitude that without Moyes we'll get relegated. Essentially no, lets not pander to accommodate Moyes.

Nigel Adkins.

Roberto Martinez.

Just a couple of starters. There are hundreds on managers, it doesn't have to be someone from within the upper echelons of the PL. Remember, we took a punt on Moyes when we plucked him from Preston. No proven top-flight pedigree.

THIS ISN'T MOYES FC.

Dispare at the people who seriously think we can do better than moyes at the moment. Why would u want to take that gamble.. Nigel Adkins... Are you for real!!

Whilst he's not perfect, most of the assumptions made of moyes bad points come against judging him against others with far better squads and resources than moyes has got.

We should be gratefully for what we'v got. I remember the times before moyes... That was Awfull, truly awful and were lucky not to be in the lower leagues now as apposed to the semi-finals and European challenges.

Yes there were times before when we were great but seriously... Them times are impossible without major investment whoever the **** manages us.
