I just find it fascinating that GOT at large is so fascinated with selling our best players for a profit and assumes we can just sign the next best thing for cheaper although if they were really good enough for us other teams playing in Europe would be in for them as well.
Does my head in
Gana is a player we need to continue to get better and move up the table. We shouldn't be looking to sell him, unless he wants to go and we get a huge fee for him. And we especially shouldn't sell him if we finish 7th this season and have Europa action next season.
Not sure i agree with this, i think we need to be pragmatic. I think Gana is good in a certain role, his form can go up and down for me, ive seen him be poor for half a season and good for the other half. Hes good when hes good and a decent pressing shield, but ultimately hes a limited player. He is coming to the age where the regression monster comes into play especially with players who rely on their engine.
Truthfully, the only way to break the glass ceiling of the CL spots, is sometimes selling your best players and that a hard truth we have to accept. You have to get in big fees and reinvest, similar to what Spurs did until they competed at that level. You need to future proof positions buying low, young players as assets and developing them.
Im very open minded about Idrissa leaving, i look at it as a pragmatic decision with the cards stacked in our favor guiding the decision. If Utd come in and offer 35 mill, id take it providing we have the confidence in the replacement lined up, that would be the key criteria for me. Right fee and right player to be added.
