Holtby is a must but I doubt he would leave Schalke this season or any other in the near future. It ooks like Heitinga could be a realistic sale as we need the funds, be happy if we could recoup our money, anything more than that is just not realistic. We need a DCM big time .. Anderson on a cheap ?

His contracts up in summer

Why does everyone seem to think that Holtby is a must?

Wonder how many of those people have seen him play more than two games

i think we need a goal keeper, left sided centre back and a central midfield player (maybe barkley next season).

I would be happy with the first two.

I've watched him a few times, very very comfortable on the ball and gradually becoming more expert at finding the final incisive pass but he's urm not a must. I don't understand how he can possibly be a must either. Just because he was quoted in 2007 as saying I'm a fan doesn't make him a necessary purchase, there are plenty of players that fit the bill. Hell Lee Trundle and Jon Walters support Everton, we've got to have them in lids!

Exactly, supporting Everton doesn't mean we should get him. He is decent with the ball at his feet and he works hard but he doesn't have that much about his game that makes him a necessity.

Because he's free

So?? Owen Hargreaves is free, is he a necessity? And he might not even be free if he signs a new contract

We were linked with Dani Parejo a while back and it resurfaced somewhere. He's been woeful recently, has great vision and can certainly spot a pass but his execution has been sub standard; wouldn't be massively fond of it to be honest.

Ideally, I think someone brought his name up earlier, Beñat would be the perfect player. He's a magician on the ball, but he looks set to go off to Athletic Bilbao...oh and we'd have no hope in hell of being able to afford him either sadly.

Tomás Pina from Mallorca is another interesting one. I'd be very happy if we brought him in, very talented dribbler of the ball, brings the ball out from deep after winning it to great effect and has an extremely high work rate. Would be quite cheap and he's a decent enough player.
