Howard and Set Pieces

I've said it before, he's not [Poor language removed], he's just unorthodox. He does loads of weird little things that other keepers just don't do. Sometimes it helps and he makes good saves, other times it makes him look like a dick.

All Goalies make mistakes now and then, thet are not infallible. Have a suspicion though about Him and long range shots, to me always seems to come out and lambast the defence for letting a shot be taken!

Not a fan, never have been when he son from hes a good but not a great keeper! What really underlined the gulf in ability between a good and great keeper and the difference Howard is behind was the recent game against Brum, it was a bit embarassing comparing Joe Harts performence Vs Howards.

True, I always remember when Man U snatched Van Der Sar I was sending telepathic waves to Moyes by the thousand to get in there.

*Cough: Tim Krul!

This the same Tim Krul who has not yet made it to regular first team footie in the premiership? Been over here and in Scotland for ages, yet not made it into any prem team.

He is how ever an excellent keeper.

Nah im thinking of the Tim Krul with Euro expierence and a Eureopean U21 medal under his belt at 21.

And whenever he plays they have to clear the airspace over the stadium for fear he would catch a plane!

No solid defence has made Howard a bit nervy on crosses and set pieces. Distin is nervy. Yobo puts one clanger (:that moon noise:) per game. Sendaros has hardly played but is a bit crap. Jags solid but is still now finding match fitness. No Fellaini to mark the big grocks is a factor.
To his credit, 2 penalty saves this season. Which is two more than most.

if he makes a couple of errors after some 20 odd games then it's not that bad. Everyone's entitled to make mistakes. Petr cech hasn't had a good season. Gomes last season was a disaster for spurs. Even Almunia and Fabianski are two jokers you don't want. Their photos should be printed on the two joker cards in a deck of 54.

Howard has made errors but he combines them well with top class saves and has saved our asses numerous times. The Defoe pen, Mido pen, that cuellar save on wednesday. Then against Hull when Barmby was clear on goal all of a sudden..I'm forgetting a few others Im sure. He is very decisive when he comes to collect the ball, communicates well with his defenders and imo is the 4th best keeper in the league behind van der saar, reina, cech. It's not that bad. He kept a record CS last season so I don't see a point having a go at him.

This. Although I do agree somewhat with the OP, certainly on the w/e he looked suspect. However I'd still class him as a very good keeper, and wouldnt swap him for many in the PL.

Maybe they shouldn't let them take long shots then. *Distin, im talking to you!* :o

Now if he caught a plane right now he would be quite amazing!

Lols :)

Whats more dangerous to planes, an Icelandic Volcano or Tim Krul?!

I agree with you, wasn't having a go at him or jumping on the sell him bandwagon. Just been surprised at how he has been lately. Everyone is allowed to have dips here and there. Will be good to have Mucha in the squad, that way we have a quality keeper as backup (hopefully he is). Keeps Howard on his toes and if he does have a form dip then Moyes wont have too much anxiety in putting Mucha in until Howard regains form.
