Very is the answer although one player like David Silva would make a huge difference although I can't help thinking we look a bit like Villa under Lambert.
The problem with Ross is he's happy to stay outside the box playing I front of the opposition teams. I can't remember how many times I was wanting him to make the run behind the defense. Even if he doesn't receive the pass it takes a defender away and opens up the space for others. It has been like that all season and I don't understand why it hasn't been fixed in training. More and more he looks like a CM not a No10.Joey who cares what he does for england. Its what he doesn,t do for Everton that bugs me. Every player with talent is going to do it for ..whoever.. sorry mate i,m losing it with Ross... and i would say many more of us are too ...........
What has happened to the lad. he was an outstanding prospect and along came our manager ..mind you the england manager came along ..too..peas in a pod ...
Quick question: what's Martinez' "system"?Unbelievably boring and predictable. Teams have no fear in letting us have the ball when they know we don't do a thing, everything is so static and easy to play against.
Ross has certainly gone backwards. Last season he'd run at people this year he doesn't, last season he'd hit shots for fun whereas this year he looks terrified to have a pop. He's basically turned into a useless player living on potential.
I just don't see how Martinez can turn it around when he's so unflexible with his system
Lets hope so. I honestly thought we turned a corner but now I don't know. Are the players unmotivated and just going through the motions or has Martinez reverted back to the norm. I'm honestly not sure. The pundits see things more clearly from the outside. They see the task Martinez has of weaning this club away from a mentality of largely kick and rush football adopted under Moyes and they're complimentary. Last season we were very good. This season, for a few reasons, we've let our standards drop below where we want them.
It takes time to make that transition fully.
Don't think we did today but that comparison has crossed my mind for other matches this season.Very is the answer although one player like David Silva would make a huge difference although I can't help thinking we look a bit like Villa under Lambert.
The Martinez play book. Under no circumstances make a run from deep.Jagielka into Stones.
Stones passes it to Coleman, up to Lennon.
Lennon back to Barry who holds.
Holds.
Holds.
Back to Jagielka, Baines on the left looks for it.
Tidy into Barkley.
Barkley back into Barry.
Holds.
Holds.
Back into Jagielka, toward Stones now who runs with it.
Back into Coleman, up to Lennon.
Knocks it into Lukaku who passes it back to Barry.
Holds.
Holds.
Back to Baines who knocks it into Jagielka.
Rinse and repeat.
Ross has turned into Cleverly for Utd and Lambert's Villa.Unbelievably boring and predictable. Teams have no fear in letting us have the ball when they know we don't do a thing, everything is so static and easy to play against.

Stoke was a great game. Deulofeu took them apart.Didn't we beat both Stoke and Fulham by 4 at home last season?
The same drivel we've been served up all season.
I know people will always look back to last season but only time will tell if that was a flash in the pan as it will also tell if this season was too.
I just think our build up play is so slow, he's happy to keep the ball just for the sake of keeping the ball, I'd rather we play with a bit of risk and lose the ball on occasions to create chances. we barely test keepers these days, we openly admit to not practising corners/set pieces, the list could go on.
His philosophy is to play attractive football but he can't deliver it.
He plays a boring version of what Guardiola plays. Guardiola's style is riskier, one twos, players making runs behind. Passing into feet when covered. It nearly always will mate, if you play that slow tempo possession game in front of an organised defence you need top level players to create good chances. We do better against teams that attack us cos its not us dictating the game and we hit them on the break.
The manager isn't making the best use of the resources available, he's sticking with his style regardless of how it suits and we don't have the players to make it work and on our budget we never will.
He's trying to emulate Guardiola without the pressing and top level talent. Even Pep's style has been found out by the big sides now.
Can anyone tell me does Barkley know his left foot from his right... cos he certainly doesn,t
