Henry Onyekuru

On Thursday we covered claims from Belgium that Henry Onyekuru was close to signing for Borussia Monchengladbach and was even expected in Germany to go house-hunting in Dusseldorf.

The Bundesliga club were said to be willing to meet the loan conditions of Everton, to enable a transfer to go through early in the summer window. This was all after Everton had already agreed with Anderlecht for a further loan, with the player unsure about remaining at the Belgian club.

Now there’s interesting claims from Belgium again.

Het Nieuwsblad report Onyekuru missed training yesterday, with the official reason being ‘gastroenteritis’, but the Belgian newspaper suggest it’s actually ‘transfer fever’.

It’s stated the player’s agents are trying, one last time, to see if they can sort out a work permit for the player to move back to parent club Everton. If that doesn’t work there’s plenty of interest elsewhere.
Het Nieuwsblad say Gladbach aren’t yet entirely convinced, despite other claims, because they want to make sure they’re fully aware of the condition of Onyekuru’s knee after his injury towards the end of last year.
Should the Germans pull out, it’s claimed there’s also interest from Spain and France.

Seems like we are trying for a work permit again.

not making the world cup squad for Nigeria has truly screwed us over

could be years before we see him in an everton shirt now

..the reports from Belgium suggest he could be granted a work permit based on his transfer fee and club appearances. The inference is that the player is dragging his feet in respect of the Monchengladbach loan in the hope he can get the green light and come to us.

From the horses mouth.

Surely something could be arranged?

Has to be more to it. They must have known if they stopped him purposefully (as he is suggesting) that he would not want to play for them so there’s no benefit to it for them.

Can we not just bribe someone? I mean it obviously goes on.

Hopefully Moshiri buys Anderlecht to ruin them in true footie manager style.

Whats the point of him going to Germany if for a work permit isn't it 3 years in Belgium contenuiously? Better to send him to another club there?

good to read he wanted to come here for this season, i really wanted that too, definitely not going back there anyway. It did seem iffy that they were saying his injury meant he'd be out for months and then we decided to assess ourselves and say totally different. They still didn't listen to us, not sure why they jeopardised their own season like that.
