Heitinga (again)........

For heavens sake let's just sell him and bring in Zat Knight or someone who is happy to sit on the bench, and finally we can stop these small time threads about having too many good players.

How about, you turn you're computer off, fall down stairs, scald yourself on a cup of tea, and go to bed.
Sorry for having a debate on a forum!

No I wasn't saying he didn't deserve it, just that it doesn't make him our indisputable best player from last year. If you're being pedantic.

Heitinga was popular with the fans which helps. Distin's never been respected enough by our fans in my opinion -- I still hear "Dustbin" every so often.

I just meant you made it sound like fans are stupid and vote for the most obvious players. Heitinga doesn't really do anything immediately noticeable, so there must be another reason the fans like him. I'd like to think it's because the majority know their football and value good players. If you look at the previous winners, they're usually spot on.

Maybe put it in the Heitinga thread? And maybe don't ignore the countless times Heitinga has said he's happy to fight for his place at Everton.

Yes let's sell Heitinga, and rely on inexperienced centre backs or bog standard willing to sit on the bench players when our starting 2 centre backs get injured? He can play a few positions too, selling him is unjustifiable.

I think the fans take to him, because he comes across as a no nonsense character, in the way he plays and off the pitch. He's also got a bit of Tommy Gravesen about him!

Heitinga is a top footballer and model professional. It was refreshing when he came in the later half of last season after jags injury and not have to watch hoof after hoof to no one.

Love his appreciation of the Gwladys street end after every match!

He should be more like Winston Bogarde and love it on the bench, picking up his money. Shocking of him to say he's gonna try and get back in the team.

Definitely, a strong attitude that makes him easy to like.

If Heitinga does stay, he'll have to sign a new contract pretty sharpish. He'll want a salary he knows he can get from ALL of the clubs that have been after him for the 3 years of his everton career. Will everton offer him improved terms on his £55,000 a week, or will moyes think he can spend the money better?
I think he'll be gone this time next year.

I think if you read the comments on the OS or the forum on there you'll soon realise that there's a fair few with debatable opinions, to be polite.

I wasn't trying to say Johnny didn't deserve it as he was probably my player of the season too. I was just saying that a website poll isn't exactly indisputable evidence of anything other than the fact that he won a vote.

me too sadly. i love johhny, jags is a great defender, but i would be playing heitinga with distin from the start of this season, don't see the reason why it should have been broken up based on last season. then again, i don't see anything. heitinga is obviously passionate about this club, everton captain material no doubt about it, but he could get a better wage at many eurpoean clubs who are better than us (that hurt to say that) whilst being a regular starter for them at the same time, which is obviously odd, but we do have 3 class centre backs. i wouldn't hound on at moyes over this selection because it is a tough choice, picking neville in centre midfield is another story altogether.

A website poll on the official site, voted on by thousands. Of course the comments are sometimes a bit lame and there are quite a number of clueless fans that chat **** at the game, but I still think the majority in both instances have some idea what they're talking about. I like it, it's a good award.
