'A woman has defended her decision to send $1.4 million to her online lover in Africa - who she has never met.

Twice-divorced Sarah met Chris Olsen online 18 months ago.

Though the mysterious man's accent has changed over time, and he keeps asking for money to be wired to various different countries, Sarah insists she is '95 per cent certain' that he is telling her the truth.

Despite his numerous attempts to come home so they can be together, she says, he keeps getting arrested on false charges.'

I wanted to make a lazy comparison to Bill Kenwright, but it's too early.
 

We all laugh about it, but the people who involved in these scams are pure evil and the misery they cause is immeasurable. I worked for a fella years ago who got stung by something similar and when he eventually came to his senses it nearly killed him. There's almost a stereotype for a victim and he fitted it. Divorced, lonely, late 50's, quite wealthy. The difference was that he met this stunning young African girl who worked in the hotel he was staying at in Gran Canaria. It was only when he came home that she proceeded to bleed him dry with false promises of marriage and moving to the UK. Even after his daughter got the Police involved he still refused to believe that he had been scammed.

The Daily mail love stories like this, they thrive on the misery of others and plaster her picture over their pages for people to point and go ''look at that stupid overweight woman''.

She's the victim of a manipulative scam artist and I only have sympathy.
