2025/26 Harrison Armstrong

sorry so is it moyes is in charge of recruitment?

and the other part has moyes agreed to move up after his contact expires?
Moyes is in charge of recruitment, James Smith (chosen by Moyes) is the main guy who's going to assist him.

Moyes moving upstairs was part of the conversation that TFG had with him when they were looking to appoint him, from what I was told. Time will tell, I guess.

so did TFG appoint smith mate?

who ever he is lol - also TFG must he happy for moyes and him to do it

even tho it’s sort of a rod for moyes back if the signings aren’t working

and if he’s here for his contract we have to hope we do improve off n on

James Smith used to work with Moyes when he was first at Everton, then he moved to Man Utd when Moyes went there.

Completely agree, but that's the reality of the situation we are in now. Also the conversations they had with Moyes involved talk about him moving upstairs after 2.5 years and bringing a younger coach through, possibly Baines or Coleman. At least that's what I was told. Whether he lasts that long is another matter!

Yeah and the main person who's going to assist with the recruitment is James Smith, who Moyes chose. He'll have an input, but it's Moyes who makes the final call. Either way, it's all on Moyes.

It certainly appears as though they want to take the Ranieri approach with Moyes - its certainly worked for them at Roma.

Also the hires are clearly Moyes' men so no matter what happens he's going to be calling the shots with all areas of the club just like before.

Have to hope theyre all strong characters and can push opinions on Moyes really.

I wonder if that 2.5 years may be almost a certainty unless he massively fails.

I was told this before they appointed him and I posted it several months back. I trust the person who told me this information. Personally I hope it doesn't happen, as I don't think he warrants the current manager's post, let alone becoming a senior adviser etc! It will then effect the people that we recruit to coach/manage the team after he goes. The above is why I'm not convinced that Moyes wasn't the plan all along. Who knows for sure. Depressingly I think he won't be punted unless he massively fails (which i don't think he will do) or the fans really turn against him, which seems unlikely at the minute. Ultimately it really doesn't say much for TFG"s ambition and personally I'd rather we had done the deal with Bell and Downing, who at least both want Everton to get back to the very top of the pile.

I should also add that Ranieri is a lot better manager than Moyes as his record shows.

Would walk into our team right now.

But if he was recalled to then end up sat on our bench come the end of January if rohl gets fit and Gana returns, then it would be a waste of half a season for him.

Branthwaite, Armstrong and Dibling are an exciting young core to build around long term.

I think we may be forced to recall him, even if we don't particularly want to.
We can see how reliant we are on Gana. Rohl does seem to have injury issues and Iroegbunam probably needs a loan in the Championship even more that HA does.
January is a difficult market and it is by no means certain that we will be able to sign or loan a player of good quality.

At least HA has had nearly half a season with Preston and has played a lot of games already so a recall would not be a disaster.

Why in the world does Tim need a loan? This has to stop.

Cant see him as anything more than a squad player.
That might be his ceiling but tim is only 22 and when he has been able to get a run of games he has been able to accrue some decent defensive stats. So he has to the potential whether it's realized is a different story. Also if we have serious aims to develop a more competitive team a reliable squad player is still a needed piece of the puzzle
