Liked him getting in fernandes face even if we did get beat. Certain players come through and make the step up mentally so comfortably, Garner was the same.
Yeah agree. Was a bit in that Boyland article about Garner speaking about the thing that stood out with him always being his mentality. Always guaranteed to be the person running hardest and covering the most ground to get back and defend at the end of the game.

Get the impression that Armstrong is exactly the same kind of character. Cliché but that mentality is also something that you can't really teach and drill into a player that doesn't have it. Extremely valuable trait for a player to have, especially a cm.

Gordon had and still has, a horrendous attitude.
Naw . Gordon’s a rat, and I can understand why people hate him , but that’s got nothing to do with his attitude and application as a youngster. Armstrong at the same age shows just the same attitude and drive to develop himself. It’s one thing amongst many that sets him apart from other youngsters.

Mentality is so weird in football and we sound like a bunch of amateur psychologists but it's so clear to every Everton fan that Armstrong just has 'it'.

There's a very strange blend of being both arrogant in a way but still having your head screwed on that can take a player incredibly far

Gordon has always been a prime example of a player who is overly eager to tell journalists how great an attitude he has. And then absolutely go missing in the major games. Then when he catches a break against massively inferior opposition, is back blasting the interview circuit telling journalists about his great attitude.

Speaking to a few Preston season ticket holders, they say there are a couple of factors. Iverson being injured (although back last night), but they all think Armstrong leaving is the biggest one. Well apart from the managers tactics that is.
Tactics is the major factor, it was always going to come back and bite them up the ass..

Armstrong is obviously a miss, but it's those stubborn tactics have done it..
