Because he’s 18 and could use more experience playing against adults. Training does nothing. It’s not a match. Football is a sport where matches do not resemble training really at all.

Hasn’t he played pretty much ever game since we recalled him? Starting most of them?

Playing premier games is a much better learning experience for him than playing in the championship.

People who watched him in the championship would tell you he was clearly levels above that standard.

He’s ready to test himself in the premier league and is getting plenty of minutes.

Training with premier league players and playing premier league football is what he needs now.
