Good player, but nothing special. But there’s nothing wrong with that. I think too many people now think in a far too binary manner- a player is seemingly either total garbage or has to be completely world class. It’s just ludicrous. Lets be honest here have we actually had any “world class” players in two decades? He gets flak for his price tag and his stats are overinflated by set pieces, but he’s still a decent option.
Shouldn’t be sold and will be a solid part of the squad and first XI next season. He didn’t show enough last year and could he be improved upon? Most probably. Is that really a priority when you look at the rest of the squad? Not a chance. He’s good enough for next season. Reasses after that. It’s not like we can sell him and get our money back anyway.

My question is, when we start playing more attacking soccer, when he gets to take penalties, and scores 8-9 goals next year with the same number of assists, runs his tail off, are the same posters going to trash him just because they think they are clever?
Imagine Marco Silva and Marcel Brands watching that game yesterday, I bet they werent thinking "I cant wait to sell him".

Imagine if he wasnt our player and we were linked to him, after yesterdays game everybody, bar Zat, would be frothing over him.

Sigurdsson sufferered with us shoehorning Shrek into every line-up. He will shine in his best position next season.
Rom was beaten to death with his fee. Then when it looked like he was leaving the same folks pinned a massive price tag on him. It's so weird to me.
