Groucho's Fact Hunt

Brodie Avenue (Mossley Hill - Garston) is named after civil engineer John Alexander Brodie; who not only overseen the building of the Queensway tunnel in 1934 (To date, the largest municipal engineering project undertaken in the UK) but also designed the nets for goals after watching an Everton game.

Not to be confused with the other John (Leopold) Brodie; who designed the 'Pudding basin' (UK) or 'Doughboy' (US) helmet worn by British & US troops in both world wars.
