Calm
Poor Tyler Breeze
He did something like a 3 minute job to Titus O'Neill last night
I mean, he lost quite a bit in NXT too, but at least they were decent matches where he was able to get his stuff in
I really think they need to do away with TV matches less than 6 minutes, unless it's a squash
If you want guys to have a competitive back and forth match, designed to help them both, give them at least 6-8 to work it properly
There's just no way you can have a match shorter than that and not end up with at least one of the competitors looking like a geek
I know Vince Russo hates this post by the way (As he's thoroughly against longer matches on TV), and I'm not saying don't have shorter matches at all. Again, if you want someone to win quickly and decisively over a geek, then 3-4 minutes is fine
If you actually want people to get invested in the mid card though, and allow guys/girls a chance to get their characters and move sets over, you need to give them more time to tell an actual story
If that means less matches on Raw, then so be it. You have Superstars and Main Event, save the shorter matches for that. There's nothing wrong with giving Tyler Breeze and Titus O'Neill 6 minutes to have an actual match with a proper narrative. Even if Tyler still loses, he'll have at least had a chance to get a little heat on Titus and maybe a couple of moves in before succumbing. That + his entrance would actually give Tyler a chance of being a moderately over mid card guy you could push to an IC/US Title match after a couple wins if needs be. It also makes Titus's win seem more worthwhile as he had to struggle that bit more to attain it
Just a thought anyway
I've not read all that but I agree and don't agree.
I get your point that Tyler should be maybe doing a bit better. But then would it not be dead weird if he was say turning up and then beating Lesnar?
He'll pay his dues and get his chances but he's never going to be higher than intercontinental level.
