Good documentaries

Dark Days- about people living in the NYC subway system. Amazing how adaptive and inventive people can be when needs must.

Taking Liberties- about civil liberties and why you should always be vigilant if you wish to remain free.

Can't think of any more off the top of my head but seeing this thread has put me in the mood for a good documentary later this evening.

Recently watched "Narco Cultura" a very tragic and compelling documentary on the "drug war" in Mexico.

Also, the recent 30x30 "Of Miracles and Men" (which sort of dovetails the superb "Red Army") is another good documentary about USA-Soviet hockey in the 1980s.

Watched "The Wolfpack" about a group of brothers who spent their entire lives (ages 12-17 or so) in a Lower East Side apartment in Manhattan; they mostly just watched movies then made very detailed props/costumes/sets to recreate those movies. And looked out the window. And entertained themselves. They are surprisingly well adjusted (relatively speaking) for being shut-ins their entire lives. They all have Hari Krishna names and very long hair. Their dad is sociopathic (it goes without saying) and their mom seems nice but controlled by their dad. Finally, they just leave and go outside and find a whole other world outside their apartment. They learn new words like "google" and "like" and "dude". It's very disturbing and also quite touching in the ways that the siblings cope with their inside and new found outside world.

Just finished watching Winter On Fire: Ukraine's Fight For Freedom on Netflix and blown away by it. One of the best documentaries I've seen in a while. A truly astonishing piece of filmmaking on what was such a brutal event. Still no happy ending for the Ukrainians though.

What is for tea.
