Good attack/Rubbish defense vs Good defense/Rubbish attack

Is it better for this team to be good in attack but rubbish in defense, or good in defense but rubbish in attack?

In English football it is always better to be able to score goals.

If you can score goals, and defend set pieces well, then you will win more than you lose.

I can imagine it would be quite a lot of fun to constantly steal 3 points when it's not necessarily deserved.
