I don't play as much as I should which frustrates me. Primarily as my mates do play regularly so I look like a muppet when I do get out on the course.

Last handicap I had was 21, though that was three years ago, probably off about 24 at the moment if I play well. Good off the tee, great around the green, can't hit a low iron for **** though so I fall to pieces on the longer holes.

Now my knee has decided it doesn't want to play football any longer, it might be time to play a bit more often.

I'm a 14 right now...best I've been. Was always hovering between 18 and 21 until the last few months. Breaking up with your girlfriend is the best way to improve your game. Oh...losing weight doesn't hurt either...I'm down about 70 lbs since July.

If I could only chip around the green better...

I've been to the driving range twice this week, each time hitting 100 balls. It's the first time I've been in over a year and I did fairly well considering. I did well with all the irons on and off the tees, and I hit a few tasty chips with my lob wedge. I'm absolutely useless with woods though, I don't even bother with them any more.

Lessons mate...lessons. I spent $300 on lessons about a year and a half ago. I was at a point in my game where I was completely lost. I took a 12 on #12 followed by a 13 on #13 in a round...at that moment I said it's time for lessons.

I was so lost, it was unbelievable. Anyway, the moral of the story is that the pro giving me lessons had me sorted out in 15 minutes...had never hit a ball so well. Best $300 (6 1 hours lessons over 6 weeks) I ever spent.

I am similar. I started and was doing ok, but was hitting 40 over a round. Having lessons at the moment, only had 2 of the 6 so far but hitting the ball so much better now it is unbelievable. Only a few small adjustments to my stance and swing etc and im now hitting the ball much cleaner. Still some way to go but feel like im more in control.
