I don't agree at all. I am far from being a Benitez (or a kneejerk
@davek) supporter.
But if I look through the team we are getting a core of decent players at decent ages:
Forwards: Gordon, Gray, Richarlison, Calvert-Lewin
Defence:
Mykolenko, Godfrey,
Branthwaite, Patterson
Pickford is at a good age and standard, so the need is arguably in midfield. We have a fairly mediocre stack of aging average PL players there. And if we pick up a loan or a transfer to take us through to the next window then we are doing a decent job in reshaping the team from one including too many overpaid and overrated older players.
Tbh, I'm relatively OK about Digne being the financial price to pay for that reshaping. (And I don't think he would be particularly unhappy about a move.)
