Gibson and the new Belgian Lad Ofoe

The thing that worries me is, is Moyesy thinking of using Felli up behind Jelavic alot this season, cos some games it works, and yesterday it didnt.

Against 2 towering CB's like WBA have got, when we looked to hit Felli, the majority of time it was food and drink for the 2 defenders in the air.

I noticed this too. Reason everything was sticking to Felli in the Man Utd game was because he was up against Carrick, who was affording him more space. Yesterday that just didn't happen at all.. the likes of Yacob and Mulumbu doubled up on him at every ball over the top.

If we had a manager with a Laudrup/Martinez type mindset with the eye for players that Moyes posesses then we would be unbeatable

think laudrup's eye for a player seems pretty good so far based on michu, hernandez and ki. if we had a manager with the mindset to try and win every game along with moyes' eye for a player then THAT would be a great combination.

Fellaini was OWNED big time. its just a shame moyes didn't see it early enough. i hope he addresses it in the right manner instead of suggesting we will revert to just sitting there defending and hope for the draw. we had/have options

Any two from three of Fellani, Gibson and Ofoe dependent upon form, opposition, injuries and suspensions in a 4-2-3-1. Osman should play the No10 role (CAM) for 60 mins and then replaced by Barkley. These two are the only two - perhaps Pienaar as well - that can supply the creative killer balls round the box that we need against packed defences. Definitely not long high balls to fellani when he's against proper centre backs, it's also a waste as he's the best defensive midfield player in the Premiership!

Moyes should play Fellaini more deep than he did . You would think that after 2 games of playing Fellaini at acm that opposition would no who they have to mark . Moyes should no better to not be predictable .
Give naismith a crack in the hole and play mirallas on the right

I very much agree with everyone. It's abou having depth and good options of the bench to stay competitive in all competitions.

I think we should have a nice rotation betweeb Gibson, Fellaini and Ofoe for the 2 CM/CDM positions with Pienaar, Naismith/Osman, and Mirallas infront of them.

Obviusly tactics and formations should change depending on the oponent ot circumstance. The more options we have the better.

If all the players we signed play to there potential then this transfer window should be consider probably Moyes's best.

We now have Vadis, Gibson, Junior, Heitinga, Neville and Osman who can do a job in front of the back four so it seems like Moyes is planning on continuing with Fellaini behind Jelavic. I would if I was him.

I see two from

Gibson
Oviedo
Ofoe

Being rotated to play in the two slots in front of the back four. Obviously Fellaini is first pick in front of them meaning

Pienaar
Mirallas
Naismith

Being rotated for the two flank positions.

In an ideal world anyway. Injuries elsewhere (Baines/Jelavic) will impact on just how much interchange we will see. It means we will cope through some injuries, and suspensions. Be able to rotate players through form and tiredness. Someone will have to pick up some of the slack when Jelavic misses a game or two.

Oviedo plays on the left hand side not as a midfield anchor.

If he is a left footer, and can play defence and midfield, I strongly suspect we'll see him him like this

Pienaar Oviedo Gibson Mirallas
Baines Distin Jagielka Hibbert

What it means is he covers the gap when Baines overlaps and so adds that bit of security because lets face it, our left side has been phenomenal and everyone knows it, so oppositions try to lock that side down, doubling up on Pienaar and shutting out the space for Baines or keeping him back by pushing a runner up against him. With the extra left sider in the mix we'll have a man advantage on his natural side. Seems Moyes has paid £5mill for a player with 12 months to go - thats a lot for Moyes!
So far as Ofoe goes, I hope he is the midfield lynchpin Gibson can trust to help bring the ball out of the back but to also run himself into the ground chasing back and pressing counter attacks. Its the counter attacks this season that have me worried.

We paid £1.2m for him in the end. I think the idea is that he'll be cover for Baines and Pienaar. His defending is a bit hit and miss from what I've seen on Youtube and we have more than enough players in the squad with experience of playing in front of the back four.

By all accounts, Oviedo is meant to have ace attacking attributes, hence why he has been playing at LM more often, he has pace, trickery and a good left foot, I watched Copenhagen v Lille champions league qualifying games and he looked ace, but not the type that would play holding mid, looks very much a flair player and another exciting add, if he adapts to the premier league, which admittedly may take a while. on the subject of our actual Cm's I'd like to see Fellaini and Gibson in central midfield, with one of Pienaar, Mirallas, Osman or Naismith playing in front of them, Fellaini will play 2nd striker when the game suits it, but he is an immense central midfielder, more so than as a striker, even though he bullied Man Utd there.

Just to confirm, it's not 5m mate, we've reportadly paid £1.2m, £1.6m or according to sky sports, £2.5m - so either way its nowhere near 5m. Very, very low risk

osman on the right? nada. nobody knows how this ofoe boy will do yet/if he signs. felli staying in DM for me, naismith's link up with jelavic has convinced me enough to put him ACM with mirallas on the right

Spot on .... Howard, baines, jag, distin, hibbo. ... Gibbo, felli .... Pienaar, nacey, miralles ... Jelavic

We need to play the ball on the floor and keep psession better... No place for Neville I'm afraid, ossie on the bench and either junior or Barkley to give us something different going forward if a goal down...
