Just wondering...?

Don't want to take anything away from the great mental health/depression thread but a bit stuck at the minute on where you'd post a thread in a similar way for something like dementia, prostate cancer or perhaps a generic weight loss/fitness type stuff? All of which could be really useful self-help/awareness stuff.

If you stick it in the Ale House you'd get the mick taking out of it and it would seem a bit lost in the Current Affairs alongside Trump and Brexit..

I think this is a great idea. Men are rubbish at understanding medical issues so this could be of great benefit to those who need more info on a range of conditions.

Never google stuff about health on the internet, EVER.

Unless its a resource given to you by your Doctor, but if in doubt, NEVER google anything about health on the internet, always go to the Doctor.

As Bruce says, the last thing the internet needs is a group of footy fans trying to play Doctor on the internet.

The depression thread is different, for obvious reasons, with mental health talking is the best thing you can do, whether its with your cat, randoms on the internet or the post at the bottom of your garden.

But if you have a lump that concerns you, a headache you cant shift or a cough that doesnt seem to go away, talking wont help, only seeking medical care will.

Sort of agree. Except for the NHS website

http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Pages/hub.aspx

And maybe the NICE website which contains clinical guidelines- useful if you've been clearly diagnosed and want a sense recommended best practice and treatments when you see a GP or specialist on subsequent visits. https://www.nice.org.uk/

Anything else, aside from stuff like reputable charities like Cancer Research UK or Arthritis Research UK is probably best swerved.

But to reiterate, make sure you've got a diagnosis and if in doubt see a medical professional.

I was not thinking of each other diagnosing problems rather talking through their experiences of having and being treated. Sometimes it helps to be able to discuss with people who can truly empathise.

I had a kidney stone and the day I pissed that out was simultaneously the most painful and relief filled of my life so far.

This sounds disgusting but I wanted it as a keepsake so fished it out of the bog, then when I washed it it fell out of my hand and down the plug hole. So many emotions in the space of a couple of minutes.
Been there and had a very similar experience. Not fun is it!
