Working in the pensions industry this has been getting rammed down our throats for weeks now, to the point that we've had to take compulsory online learning modules for it. The changes between this and the old DPA aren't all that massive to be honest, it's just now on a bigger scale.
Likewise, been giving out loads of training for the last few weeks. Nothing too different to know/do - most of our policies have it covered - but you’d think we were reinventing the entire business based on some of the reactions.

Only one has confused me.
My car insurance brokers keep emailing me saying they can't send me stuff they "think" I'm interested in (wrong!) Unless I give them permission.

Clearly I don't want a thing about their associates or any other attempt to upsell so I'm delighted to ignore .... however:

Does this mean they won't be able to send my my renewal reminder through?
They will as it’s covered as a legitimate interest. It’s not marketing, but part of the service.

Got force fed a 2 hour online training session that melted my brain followed by a multiple choice test.

Passed with total guesswork so job done. Just don't trust me with your data ;)

It is so satisfying ignoring all these emails, knowing I won’t be getting spammed with irrelevant mail any more.

It should drastically cut cold calls from PPI cowboys as well.

I feel your pain about online training. In your own time? Unpaid?

I swapped teaching jobs about 20 years ago. The new school had enrolled the entire department on a turgid compulsory online IT in science course which span 4 weeks and cost them a fortune.

"You know, because you've seen it recently on my CV and application, that I've been leading IT at my last school right?". Didn't wash. I was nagged and nagged (have you started it yet? I can't see you've logged on) daily.

Eventually I logged on, skipped the 4 week (an hour every evening) course, went straight to the test (took around 30 mins) and passed just to shut them up.
Think I was the only one to make a plane out of my certificate.

It set the scene for my interaction with that school right away. I didn't stay too long. (Bloody terrible headmaster).

Ohhhh
This is why time was running out to claim ppi !

How does it work for debt collection agencies? They've always been close to being illegal anyway, but now their model of buying debt from organisations must be in breach of GDPR?
They're in breach of law unless they can prove that you've given them this number and have signed an agreement saying they can call you.

Basically just ask them how they got this number, considering you've not given them neither the number or consent to use it and that's in breach of the GDPR laws/articles and they *should* crap themselves.
