Gardening with Joey

I've already got that Miracle Gro so I don't need the Home Bargains do I ..
If I am doing that first though, does it mean I have to wait until the end of Summer to plant grass seed so it doesn't kill it.
Just sow your grass seed when it warms up for a longer spell of warmth - its only warm in the sun in fact going cooler over the weekend - rain on Tuesday -

Right weed & feed you lawn first end of April - let it work apply when the gras & weeds are 2 inches high leave fro 8-10 days to let the weed killer work - water in well if its a dry spell or ideally put it on if rain is forecast ...
When it works you will find holes gaps in your lawn where the weed has died - remember grass seed will not germinate on rock hard solid on your lawn so fork any big areas & rake a tilth - Then ideally get a garden trug with compost & put big hand fulls of grass seed in it Home bargain have the cheapest lawn seed etc mix well & and over sow you bare areas with a your mixture of seed & compost { stops the birds from getting your seed} use an abundance of grass seed in your mix - then over sow with more seed & lightly rake in water immediately with a fin spray until soaked & germination should take 7-10 days -

When you cut your grass avoid the newly sown germinated grass with your mower the first cut - then only cut it the next time around - do not feed your lawn with miracle grow use that to feed plants or hanging baskets etc .... - wasting money if it looks starved add a spring fertilise Slow release feed - this IMO is not needed as you have already used weed & feed before resowing ....

Remember the more you feed you lawn the more you will have to cut it - In last years drought I cut mine about 4 times in one season ,,,,,

This is the miracle grow all in one lawn feed & weed i advised Swartzy to use.

It used to be made by Fisons as Evergreen extra.
Scotts make it now.

It's a posh brand & probably just superior to other brands which will do the same job check the ingredients of the mix more than likely very similar- but if you do well with it then stick to it as you know it works well-
I prefer the granular weed & feed try to avoid powder weed & feed as that can blow around once put down & it's hard to evenly dispense on your lawn plus that's why it is cheap in the first place -
Always water your weed & feed or more killer in well for gest results ;)

Same here
Its granular feed and i use a wheeled spreader , gives a good even application.

If the weather is right i put the feed on a day after cutting it.
If theres no rain forcast i put the sprinkler on , usually start to see results around a week later.
Also i dont walk on the grass until its well watered in.

Getting the garden prepped , bit of pruning and general tidy up.
Just added some Primula's , Viola's & Pansy's to the empty pots til the summer bedding plants come out.
Great time of year tho Joey.

In a nursery it's 9 months work in four months unfortunately- 4 months of no family life missed it for a few months on retirement- on relection tied to much to my job my mortgage interest rate back then was 11 :5 % so the overtime plus working g most weekends was a necessity 75 hours overtime on average for 4 months - too much just a way of life ....

Heavy going that mate.

Think we've all been through that period of mortgages and long hours.
But still found time for my garden & outdoor hobbies .

Fortunately , now recently retired can have more time for these things ;)

Am I too early for transplantation of my Crocosmia Lucifer. I definitely think I'm too late this season from a bulb, but want to know will I damage my existing spread if split them

@Joey66
I've got a rose bush in a 14in pot and it's doing great, so, for reasons best known to herself, mrs degsy decided she wanted it moved 'over there'.
I couldn't move it, it had rooted through the pot and seems pretty solid...which was why it was doing so well?
Can I move it by cutting through between the pot and the ground?
