Gardening with Joey

I love that you have set aside a spot for a wildflower meadow, there is much joy in seeing nature appreciate your work.

Wildflowers do well here, especially about now, just have to get the right ones...

Going for a drive to check out the wildflower bloom is a "real" event here for some when it pops as you get used to the army green nothingness of the summer/fall/winter desert Southwest.

Appear to have developed a bumper crop of garlic, cauliflower and broad beans outside over the winter.

Started carrots, peas, corn, cucumbers, roma tomatoes (on recommendation of @GrandOldTeam ) and chillis. All going well albeit those are indoors at present.

Potatoes and onions still to sow.
Life is so easy for vegetarians.
My kebab crop is poor this year and my steak pies and sausages both failed to bloom. 🤷‍♂️

Once I work out how to DM on here, I will be hounding you out all Summer, so you better be prepared..eed your grass with mirico your lawn mower will be outb twui
You need heat for any seed sow

Seed sowing you need heating & light - as for your potatoes start them off a bit later .....

Feed your lawn too early & you will be needing to cut it 2 times a week rain next week - use weed & feed late April /May when we get some rell sustained warmth ... & water it in well .... home bargain cheapest ....
I've already got that Miracle Gro so I don't need the Home Bargains do I ..
If I am doing that first though, does it mean I have to wait until the end of Summer to plant grass seed so it doesn't kill it.

My “ wild flower meadow” is not officially mine. Over the fence of our garden there’s a bit of sloping ground down to a water course with fields beyond. The developer should have turned the water part into a feature but never did, so about 12 years ago I decided to turn the slope into a wildflower meadow , cleared all the grass, weeds and resowed it with wildflower mixture , mainly grass and native flowers . It was hard work getting it established but I got there . In recent years , as I’ve got older it’s become too much and I’ve adopted a laissez faire attitude - heh., you’re wild flowers , get on with it. I do look after some of the strugglers though like Greater Napweed , purple heads and the Viper’s Bugloss (blue) which are my favourites. I have to hack back the Gowans a bit as they spread quickly. Gowans is the Scottish name given to basically white oxe-eye daisies.

I’ll pop some photos from last year showing the Vipers bugloss and others . I’ve posted similar in the past in other threads , my apologies if this is out of place here

Ive used that for years , its multi purpose kills weed and moss before it really takes hold and gives the grass a boost after winter , never had any problems at all .
Joey's right you will have to cut it more but once its kicked in i dont mind cutting it twice a week .

If theres any weeds or moss in it you'll see them blacken and die , once dead you can remove them and scarify .
Shortly after you can "overseed" and top dress the bare area's .

Its always worked for me anyway.
