Think it's time we moved him on. Apart from Galloway who again I'm unsure of, who are the young left backs we have who are capable?

Foulds was meant to be decent?

Foulds is a centre back who played left back on a few occasions. He hasn't done much since joining us to be honest.
Robinson and Connolly 2 decent ones. Robinson's contract was up and no word of him signing new one yet or no word of him leaving either.

Shame, looked really decent during that short run he had in the team back in 14/15. Didn't exactly set the world alight with Fulham in the Championship in 15/16 though and Koeman apparently wasn't impressed, hence why didn't see him at all last season in the first-team.

Time for him to move on, he can likely find a club somewhere in the relegation places or at the top of Championship who would be willing to give him a chance. Just a shame he likely won't ever be that exciting Baines replacement it was briefly thought he could be.

Garbutt looked really good in the 2014/15 season, seem to remember him starting a majority of Europa League games when Baines was injured. The away game v Wolfsburg when we won 2-0, he looked top class then.

I wonder if being sent on loan the next season to Fulham when he may have expected to challenge Baines in the first team wrecked his confidence. He doesn't seem to have been the same player since.

Conor McAleny MK II

Different situation, Garbutt still has a couple of years to go on his contract, and in his position he only has an ageing (and increasingly injury-prone) Baines and Galloway, who failed to impress Pulis last season at West Brom, ahead of him. There doesn't appear to be any rumors linking us with signing another left-back. I'd suggest this pre-season may be his last-chance saloon though. If he fails to impress he might be better off looking at his options elsewhere.

Assuming he had it in him to progress at all, not withstanding that, his lack of progress firmly lies at Martinez's door.

Iirc, He made a comment about 'internal goings on' either before or after the Newcastle game, which left Martinez in a poor light...along the lines of 'nobody knew what they were supposed to be doing'.
IMO, post Distins freeze out, given that the wheels were starting to come off the 'brown shoe bandwagon' (Oh yes they were) these comments were, on refection best not said in public.
Martinez not best pleased?...and promptly gave him, (with help from soft hearted Kenwright) the 'new 30K contract carrot' coupled with the 'straight out the door on loan stick'
Then gave him some more stick with a season long loan to Fulham, were he got injured.
Down hill from then.

Cue @davek in 3..2..1...

Shame he hasn't to kicked on after his breakthrough season. Would have been such a natural replacement for Baines. Still got a hell of a cross/set peice on him.
