It's not that crazy to be honest. I mean it's questionable for sure, but it's kind of acceptable. I've said before, there'll always be a tipping point for these things - a time at which you go from believing that things can be salvaged to thinking that they can't. It's not how i'd handle it, but I can understand that we might have reached the point where the board are willing to give him one more shot to prove he can do it and will sack him if not.
It's one thing to say that a culmination of results eventually leads to the straw that breaks the camel's back - but it's quite another to suggest that losing away to a top four side is that moment.
But beyond that, it's a totally arbitrary indicator, and if it's true it suggests a completely mindless approach.
Lampard should be judged on performances and results over an extended period, to the point where any single game is not a deciding factor.
Though having said all of that - my gut feeling knowing what I do about the way this football club operates tells me that losing to Southampton would 100% spell the end. I think if we're looking for a watershed, it's that game.
